Call of Duty

Guides

Light machine guns aren’t the sort of weapon you see often in Call of Duty. However, if used properly, they will serve you well. The XMG is no different.

The XMG is the second LMG you’ll come across in Black Ops 6, and it’s a brilliant all-rounder that will serve you well if you use it as it is intended. No, you aren’t going to be sprinting around the map with this heavy weapon. Here’s our best loadout for the XMG LMG in Black Ops 6, including perks and ideal attachments.

How to unlock the XMG

The XMG light machine gun is unlocked at level 13. It is the second LMG unlocked in Black Ops 6 and has best-in-class ammo capacity and accuracy. However, it is the least mobile of the group and has recoil issues without necessary attachments.

Attachments for the best XMG loadout in Black Ops 6

We’re going with the standard five attachments for the XMG:

This XMG setup plays heavily into a more turret-like role with a focus on scorestreaks and objective-based gameplay. The Precision Foregrip and Compensator both help alleviate horizontal and vertical recoil. The Gain-Twist Barrel gives us a little more consistency at range.

I’ve gone for the NATO FMJ mod here as it will allow you to deal heavy damage to scorestreaks with the weapon. Alternatively, you can swap this out for your choice of stock or grip to assist sprint to fire speed. As always, attach an optic of your choice: I prefer the wider holographic sights for an LMG.

Best secondary weapon for the XMG

Again, we’re leaning into anti-vehicle focus and destroying scorestreaks here, so I’ve picked the CIGMA 2B to bring down anything that your XMG can’t kill in a short burst.

Since you’ve already got 100 rounds to use, a secondary weapon like a sidearm is a little unnecessary.

Lethal and Tactical equipment to use

Additional equipment is key for the XMG loadout as oftentimes you may find yourself running low on ammo in the magazine. A good set of grenades help you find the time to reload or do the killing for you.

The Semtex grenade is our first pick, but you may also pick the Impact Grenade as its immediate explosion could keep you alive in a fight that otherwise could end with your death as the Semtex charges.

I’ve gone with the standard Concussion Grenades to prevent faster players from moving while you lay down fire. If you want to go all-out on objective-based gameplay, Smoke Grenades are super handy for capturingHardpointsor getting a reload off undercover.

Best perks and Wildcard for this XMG loadout in Black Ops 6

We’re leaning further into our scorestreaks and objective gameplay with the Strategist Specialty:

All three of the main perks unlock Strategist which grant bonus points for objective capture and gameplay. Tac Mask allows us to keep firing without interruption from flashbangs or concussion grenades.

Tactical Expert will do until you unlock Perk Greed (Image via esports.gg)

Dispatcher helps us get our support-based UAVs faster, while Gearhead allows an additional Trophy System so we’ve got one ready at all times.

We’re going with Perk Greed as our Wildcard, allowing us to pick up Bankroll. With this perk combination, we can capture a point in Domination or assist in Hardpoint and immediately spawn a UAV to help the team out.

If you haven’t unlocked Perk Greed, go for Tactical Expert for a few extra tactical grenades.

Prestiging will take you quite a long time in Black Ops 6 without external help.
