Rapture in your pocket

It’s a novel concept to take some of the most revered console and PC games from less than a decade ago and put them on phones. Seriously, how have we come this far this fast?! The devices that sit in our pockets and are primarily used for checking Facebook and Twitter can also run titles that revolutionized gaming not that long ago.

BioShockis the latest title to be added to this list, as 2K will release it on iOS devices for $14.99 today at 9 p.m. PST. The mobile port features both controller and touch support. A few weeks ago, our own Steven “Greasy Thumb” Hansen had a chance to gohands-onwith it. He noted that with a controller “you can basically match the original experience,” and that the touch controls weren’t perfect but the game found a way to compensate for lack of accuracy.

Be aware that this port won’t necessarily run on all iOS machines. It’s only compatible with iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, and iPhone 5. It won’t work on any earlier Apple devices. But, for anyone with the appropriate hardware, Rapture awaits your return.
