Last week, developer Bungie detailed how theEververse cosmetic systemwould be changing with the launch ofDestiny 2’s Forsaken expansion. The devs explained that players would have more ways to earn cosmetics inDestiny 2and that there would be more items to unlock to customize their Guardian. Today, Bungie showed off one of the new cosmetics launching with Forsaken, an emote with an emotional bent.

As part of this week’s Bungie blog post, the developer revealed even more info about howDestiny 2’ssystems are changing in Year 2. But the post also included a brief video showing a new emote featuring a Guardian pushing an empty swing in the rain.

While Bungie has done some creative things with emotes, this is one of the better ones they have created. It sets a scene with the rain and the empty swing, and hopefully it repeats like the popcorn emote.

Emotes inDestiny 1were somewhat novel, but the introduction of neon props, or in this case a whole neon scene, take things to a new level. And with the changes to Eververse rewards, the return of thePrismatic Matrix, and opportunities for players to earn Bright Dust, any who want this emote should be able to buy it eventually.

Even then, there are still going to be thoseDestiny 2players that are not fans of emotes since some can be purchased using real money. Bungie faced a big controversy when it lockedIron Banner and Faction Rally emotes behind a paywall, and the same thing happened with ornaments for the Whisper of the Worm sniper rifle. Hopefully, inDestiny 2Year 2, Bungie is wiser about offering players the opportunity to earn all Eververse items simply by playing the game. And then those that want to pay to get the specific item they want can do so.
