The Elder Scrolls 6andStarfieldmay be two of the most highly anticipated games currently in development. Bethesda announced both titles during E3 2018, withStarfieldbeing the studio’s current focus and fullThe Elder Scrolls 6development to follow. While Bethesda made clear both titles were still early in development during E3, perhaps it now regrets announcing both games so early. Todd Howard, director at Bethesda Game Studios, has now confirmed that bothThe Elder Scrolls 6andStarfieldwill not be seen at E3 2019.
Howard reportedly confirmed both games' absence from the upcoming June E3 convention during a Bethesda panel being run at PAX East. Further context for the games not being included inBethesda’s E3 2019 planswas not provided by Howard.

Bethesda did have one surprise forElder Scrollsfans, however. Howard confirmed that one Shirley Curley, an 82-year-old YouTuber that is known for playingThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimwill be providing a voice forThe Elder Scrolls 6. A video showing Curry visiting Bethesda’s offices, wearing aSkyrimt-shirt, and spending time with Howard was shared.
The absence of both of Bethesda Game Studio’s games from E3 this year comes as a surprise, given how Bethesda went out of its way to announce the games in 2018. WhileStarfieldhas been confirmed as a next-generation game, making its release no earlier than 2020, given its early announcement many were likely expecting a development update during E3 once again.
While Bethesda won’t be bringing eitherStarfieldofThe Elder Scrolls 6to E3, that doesn’t mean Bethesda is passing over the convention. The 2019 return of Bethesda’s E3 Showcase has already been announced and will be airing Sunday, June 9 at 5:30 pm.Doom Eternal’s presence at the event is already confirmed andWolfenstein: Youngbloodis expected to make an appearance. Bethesda may simply decide to fill out the rest of the event with news regardingThe Elder Scrolls Online,The Elder Scrolls: Bladesand post-launch content plans forFallout 76andRage 2.
