Each tiny stain on this map represents the heat emanating from rubble grains lying between the stars of each coltsfoot . Most of the galaxy in this simulacrum produce their signatures well before our Solar System came into existence , but we ’re only visualize them now , tens of billions of eld afterward . This single filter mathematical function was compiled as part of the Herschel Astrophysical Terahertz Large Area Survey ( H - ATLAS ) .
