Amanita Design has had great success with its robot-centric adventure titleMachinarium. After a number of favorable reviews and awards under its belt, the studio decided to put away the robots and go for a different look with its next title,Botanicula, releasing April 19 for PC, Mac, and Linux.
Botaniculawill feature the same point-and-click exploration found in other Amanita Design games, but this time players will have the ability to utilize all five characters in their group in order to traverse the dangers ahead. Players will be facing off against large flies, precarious gaps, and sinister arachnid-creatures; all to save the last seed of their home tree. The team is also boasting bonuses for dedicated players who reach its conclusion, as well as a large amount of hidden secrets to be uncovered.

Amanita Design has shared a bunch of screenshots, character renders, and early sketches of their work. I was hooked thanks to the detailed world and interesting character designs inMachinarium, butBotanicula‘s art style is something really unique. I love the soft colors and odd designs of these creatures; along with the blurry backgrounds and semi-transparent vines and branches, it makes you feel like you are seeing this world through an electron microscope.
