BRUTALITY!

Mortal Kombat 1 has finally landed after much anticipation. One series mainstay that returned in MK1 is the Brutality. This alternative to the iconic Fatality is another way to end a match violently. Today, we’ll explain how to do Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1.

How to do Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1

Continuing the tradition following Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 1, MK1 includes Brutalities as finishing moves. To perform them in this game, you must finish your opponent with a specific move at the end of the battle just before their health bar is empty.

For example, each character has one Brutality by default, which you’re able to execute by combining down and Triangle/Y on your controller. This is commonly referred to as a down + 3 or uppercut.

If done successfully, you should see a match-ender similar to the one above. More complex Brutalities require a specific button combination to perform the finisher successfully.

After unlocking more Brutalities, you can view them by heading to the Move List and opening the Finishers tab. To learn the precise button combination, open the Advanced View menu and observe the bottom of that screen.

How do I unlock more Brutalities for each character?

Each character in Mortal Kombat 1 has various Brutalities, but how many are in the game is unknown. To unlock these finishers, you must level up each character. You can view each character’s progress by clicking the Select button on your controller while on the main menu.

Once you have made it to the menu displayed above, head to Mastery, and you can see how much you have leveled each character. You can progress through the levels by playing Invasions, Tower, and online matches.
