Star Trek: Picardseason 3 introduced the two daughters of Commodore Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton), and I want theirStar Trekstory to continue. In its third and final season,Star Trek: Picardreunited the maincast members ofStar Trek: The Next Generationfor another galaxy-saving adventure. Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his former crew members had changed quite a bit since their days aboard the USS Enterprise-D. Not only had Geordi La Forge risen to the rank of Commodore, but he had also gotten married and fathered two daughters.
Ensigns Sidney (Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut) and Alandra (Mica Burton) La Forge played a vital role in stopping theBorg/Changeling plot to destroy Starfleet, encouraging their father to help Picard.Sidney and Alandra were both great additions to theStar Trekfamily, but there are currently no plans for any future shows that could feature them. After the success ofStar Trek: Picardseason 3, fans began clamoring for a spin-off, and the proposedStar Trek: Legacytook on a life of its own. Unfortunately, despite the perfect setup provided byPicard’sfinal season,Star Trek:Legacyremains deadin space.

Geordi La Forge & Family Are Being Wasted By No Star Trek: Legacy
Star Trek Should Find A Way To Continue Sidney & Alandra’s Story
Geordi La Forge’s transformation into a fatherand family man was one of the best elements ofStar Trek: Picardseason 3. Not only did it feel right for his character, butSidney and Alandra were both immediately compelling and likable characters. While Sidney pursued a career as a pilot rather than an engineer, both girls clearly have a lot of respect and love for their father. They both appear to be skilled Starfleet officers who take their jobs seriously, but also know when it’s okay to bend the rules.
Star Trek: Picardseason 3 told a large-scale story with a lot of characters and moving parts, meaning the La Forge family did not get a ton of screen time. Still,Sidney and Alandra had a fun dynamic with one anotherand with their father that I would love to see more of. With her position on the USS Enterprise-G,Picard’sfinal season set up at least Sidney to play a major role in a potential spin-off. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely thatStar Trek: Legacywill happen anytime soon, robbing us of the chance to spend more time with the La Forge sisters.
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Left Big Questions About Geordi’s Family Unanswered
Who Is Sidney & Alandra’s Mother?
Star Trek: Picardseason 3 offered some insight into Geordi and his daughters, but left many lingering questions about the La Forge family. The biggest unanswered question is the identity of Sidney and Alandra’s mother. InPicardseason 3, episode 6, “The Bounty,” Geordi references his partner after he agrees to join his old friends, saying to Alandra:“Tell Mom we’re not gonna be home for dinner.“Whilesome have speculated that Geordi’s wife could beStar Trek: The Next Generation’sDr. Leah Brahms(Susan Gibney), I hope this is not the case, asGeordi’s treatment of Brahms onTNGleft something to be desired.
ThroughoutStar Trek: Picardseason 3, Sidney developed a flirtatious friendship with Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) that could easily have blossomed into something more on a potential spin-off.
At theend ofStar Trek: Picardseason 3, the newly promoted Lt. Sidney La Forge landed a position as helmsman on the USS Enterprise-G under the command of Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan).Picardseason 3 did not reveal whether Alandra also received a promotion, butStar Trek: Legacycould have found a way to position her on the Enterprise-G as well. It remains to be seen ifStar Trekwill continue the story of the La Forge family, but I hope a futureTrekproject picks up whereStar Trek: Picardleft off.
