Given the anticipation for thelong-awaited Steam releases of theKingdom Heartsgames, it should come as no surprise to hear that they’re selling well. In less than 24 hours, theHD 1.5+2.5 ReMIXcompilation has rocketed up the platform’s sales charts and is currentlythe top-selling Steam game, outperforming evenHelldivers 2andShin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, the latter of which only launched today.

While the series has been available for PC owners via the Epic Games Store since 2021, Steam users have obviously wanted to see it launch on their platform of choice. I have to imagine a decent number of these sales are a result of established fans buying the games again (I should know, I’m one of them). Aside from them being playable on Steam Deck, Square Enix is discounting the whole series by 31% until July 11. So, theHD 1.5+2.5collection, which consists of four games and two cutscene compilations, is going for $34.49/£27.59. You can even get the whole series (seven games in total) for $68.99/£58.64, which is a frankly amazing deal.

Kingdom Hearts II

Admittedly, theKingdom Hearts 2.8collection andKingdom Hearts 3aren’t performing as strongly, and are ranked much lower in the Steam sales chart. They also have smaller player counts according to SteamDB, peaking at only 186 players (forKH2.8) and 817 players (forKH3). By comparison, theHD 1.5+2.5collection peaked at 6,809 players and, at the time of writing, has 4,336 concurrent players.

It makes sense for theHD 1.5+2.5collection to be the most popular. It’s the cheapest of the three offers, it includes more games, and it’s also the recommended starting point for new fans, covering the first eight years ofKingdom Heartscontent. As such,KH2.8andKH3could start to pick up in player count in the coming weeks or months.

Kingdom Hearts 2 Cloud fighting Sephiroth

It’ll be interesting to see how long theHD 1.5+2.5collection stays at the top of the sales charts but, regardless, this has hopefully proved to Square Enix that there’s an audience for futureKingdom Heartsgames on Steam. With any luck,Kingdom Hearts 4will come to PC the same day as its console counterpart, which isn’t too far-fetched considering Square Enixwants more multiplatform titles in the future. Presumably,KH4is at least in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but there’s been no official confirmation on release platforms.
