Top Esports and Dplus KIA clash for a quarterfinals slot, aiming to escape the do-or-die match.
The League of Legends (LoL) World Championship 2024 Swiss Stage continues with Top Esports versus Dplus KIA for another quarterfinals slot. See what happened during the TES vs DK match in Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage here.
Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage: TES vs DK
Both Top Esports and Dplus KIA meet at the 2-1 portion of theWorlds 2024 Swiss Stage. This means that a win in this matchup will qualify them for the quarterfinals, and a loss means a do-or-die in the 2-2 pool.
Top Esports came into Worlds 2024 as the League of Legends Pro League’s (LPL) second seed, while Dplus KIA is League of Legends Champions Korea’s (LCK) third seed.
Game 1
Top Esports found two kills after an early skirmish, but this lead was not too significant. Furthermore, Dplus KIA found several picks of their own which equalized the game.
The early game was quite slow, and things only started picking up with a fight over DK’s tier-one botlane tower. This fight went swimmingly for TES, propelling them into a gold lead. Transitioning into the mid-game, TES found more and more ways to snowball their lead.
DK could only put their hopes onto Smolder’s shoulders, but the dragonling struggled to stack up. Top encroached more of the map, taking Drakes, towers, and even Baron Nashor as DK waited for Smolder to scale.
By the time TES' Baron buff wore off, they were at about 7,000 gold ahead at 24 minutes. Not to mention, TES was on Hextech Dragon Soul point. The Hextech Drake went to DK, and they successfully denied Soul from TES.
Pre-verification kicks off on Oct. 8.

The extended fight afterward favored Top Esports slightly, but enough that they had free access to an uncontested Baron Nashor.
This Baron buff eventually catalyzed TES' victory — a cherry on top of this clean game. TES led the series 1-0.

Game 2
The Dplus botlane once again struggled in the early game as Moham gave over first blood. However, ShowMaker evened it out across the map in mid-lane with a solokill.
A bloody fight broke out over the first wave of Voidgrubs. Both teams picked up three kills each, but DK came out slightly ahead with two grubs compared to TES' one. However, after the second wave of grubs spawned, DK and TES each held three grubs.
DK carried ShowMaker and Aiming did their best to retain their small lead despite TES finding picks across the map.

Even more chaotic fights occurred, with TES always coming out on top. Like in Game 1, TES found the timing to maneuver themselves to have Baron access. This time, however, DK contested it successfully.
After a big turnaround fight for Dplus, they successfully thwarted the Baron attempt and took it for themselves instead. This allowed DK their first gold lead in 10 minutes.
Although DK had the upper hand, they promptly lost it after a bad call to extend a pick to a fight in mid-lane. The throw gave TES the lead, shutdown gold, and the space to do Baron.
