The latestPlayStation 5system update has been released, and it brings a pretty hefty quality-of-life change to the way fans can use their DualSense controllers. The DualSense is a nice piece of hardware overall, though many of its features, like haptic feedback and gyro, are mostly underutilized. Thankfully, fans of the controller will have more flexibility with it now, especially if they plan on using it on PC or another platform.

According to aPlayStation Blogpost, the latest PS5 system update has added the ability topair the DualSense wireless controller to multiple devices simultaneously, without having to manually pair the controller every time players want to use it on a different device. The feature is still in beta, with the full release coming in the next few months.

DualSense Is About To Be Easier To Use On Other Platforms

Constantly Connected

When the PS5 and DualSense controllers were first released, the gamepads weresometimes difficult to get working on other platformsand PC, even previously requiring the controller to beconnected to a PS5 to update. The new update aims to offer a"more flexible and seamless gaming experience,“regardless of platform, including PS5, PC, iPhone, and PS5 Pro.

The biggest win of this new update is theease of use for PC players. The Xbox controllers are almost all plug-and-play on PC, while other controllers, especially third-party ones, require some tinkering to get players' preferred settings right.

PS5 DualSense Beta Lets You Pair Across Multiple Devices

Four Controller Setups At Once

Now, fans willnot have to pair the controllerto every device they wish to use it on. Up to four devices can be registered simultaneously and freely switched between just by holding the PS button and then one of the four face buttons, each of which corresponds to one of the registered devices. The light indicator on the controller will indicate which slot (one through four) is currently active by displaying one, two, three, or four lights.

While this update doesn’t add any significant updates for users who only play on their PS5, the new flexibility is great for fans who game on PS5 and other devices and prefer the DualSense controller over others. The DualSense controller has only been getting better withseveral updates releasedalready, and when this new one exits beta, multi-platform players will enjoy a more seamless transition fromPlayStation 5to other devices.
