Prime Video has a brand-newReacherreplacement calledButterfly, and it’s instantly become a massive streaming hit. The wait forReacherseason 4continues, but the streaming service has made a distinct effort to fill its library with similar shows, plugging the hole in the meantime. This includes titles likeCountdown,Bosch: Legacy, and more.
Butterflylanded on Amazon Prime Video on August 13, andthe series has already made a notable impact, jumping up to second place on the platform. The series is only behindThe Summer I Turned Pretty, which is currently running its third season and has had years to build up a consistent audience. It has also leaped ahead ofCountdown, a similar action-thriller show.

What Butterfly’s Streaming Data Success Means
Landing in second place may putButterflyin global phenomenon territory just yet, but let’s remember that the weekend is coming up, and a new show could very easily see a notable surge in viewership. The numbers it’s reached already are indicative of success, but the sky is the limit for an action show on Prime Video.
Butterfly’scritical reviews aren’t stellar, with a 68% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.9/10 on IMDb. That said, audiences are loving it and have given the show an 88% score, which matters more for a series like this.Butterflyisn’t here to win Emmys; it’s here to provide entertainment to action thriller fans.

The fact thatButterflyhas risen above shows likeCountdownandBallard, which are similar in genre and appeal, is indicative of its individual success. According to Rotten Tomatoes audience scores, both of those shows were more divisive among audiences, which could be a reason whyButterflyshot up above them.
Our Take On Butterfly’s Streaming Success
As a massive fan ofLost, I’m really excited to see Daniel Dae Kim getting his due appreciation in recent years. He’s had one of the most outstanding careers from that show’s cast, and it’s a testament to his continuous ability to entertain as a leading man and supporting star.
Kim is the headlining actor inButterfly, and much of the show’s success can be attributed to his charisma and star power. It takes a powerful performer to successfully lead an action show, and he’s done it.
