Warning! SPOILERS For And Just Like That… Season 3, Episode 2, “The Rat Race”
Sex and the Cityrevealed the pitfalls of Carrie’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan’s (John Corbett) romance in the original series, 23 years before their relationship woes inAnd Just Like Thatseason 3. In season 3’s premiere, Bradshaw and Shaw continue their long-distance romance after Aidan’s shocking revelation in season 2. Aidan decided that he wanted to go no-contact after his teenage son’s car accident, and Carrie, the owner of a new house in Gramercy Park built for two, was content with sending postcards back and forth.

However, inAnd Just Like Thatseason 3, episode 1, Aidan calls Carrie after three beers, throwing his rule out the window to engage in some good old-fashioned phone sex. The moment is the first real breaking point in the romance’s new setup. That said, it would have been naive to think that Carrie and Aidan could actually go five years without speaking and still end up together, or that the show would choose that storyline, which would make for pretty boring TV. In season 3, it’s evident thatCarrie and Aidan’s relationship is repeating a pattern.
Sex And The City Already Revealed The Pitfalls Of Aidan’s Impulsive Nature
Aidan Is Short-Sighted In And Just Like That Season 3
It looked like Carrie might get over what happened on the phone inAnd Just Like Thatseason 3, episode 2. Carrie came clean to her boyfriend, and Aidan and Carrie established some ground rules: they could text back and forth, and Carrie could call to check in at any time. Still, the romance turned sour again once Shaw left Manhattan. After Carrie sent a lengthy message about a table, Aidan sent a thumbs-down emoji, and Bradshaw was left feeling confused. With this, their romance is already succumbing to an underlying issue introduced inSex and the City.
The conversation between Aidan and Carrie in their Gramercy Park kitchen surfaced a pitfall in their relationship.Shaw admits at the breakfast table that he was a bit drasticwhen asking for no contact, but that isn’t where his short-sightedness started. Aidan was neglecting his son while planning to build a life with Carrie in New York, and the situation probably didn’t come out of the blue. Aidan probably could have balanced his relationship and his kids better from the start, but by investing too much in one or the other, he acted a bit impulsively.

Carrie isn’t pulling away anymore, but Aidan is still acting erratically.
InSex and the City,Carrie’s and Aidan’s romance also faltered due to Aidan’s short-sightedness.Aidan pushed Bradshaw into marrying him before she was ready, causing the relationship to fall apart as boundaries were crossed. Even though Carrie ended up going back to Mr. Big (Chris Noth), their relationship could have survived on the first try if Aidan had just given Carrie some space. Metaphorically, in her decision to marry him and, later, when he moved into her Upper West Side brownstone. Carrie isn’t pulling away anymore, but Aidan is still acting erratically.
Will Carrie & Aidan’s Romance Last In And Just Like That Season 3?
Carrie Has Other Options
We’re wondering now if Carrie and Aidan’s romance can last inAnd Just Like Thatafter their romance pitfalls. Bradshaw met someone new at the end of the last chapter, meeting an architect who plans to plant a new garden. The series introduced a clear metaphor: maybe it’s better that Carrie’s old garden, the one she always expected to have, was torn down so that something new could grow in its place.Carrie and Aidan probably won’t give up on their love that quickly, but giving Bradshaw a romance beyond Big and Aidan would be exciting.
And Just Like Thatseason 3’s trailer revealed that Carrie will spend more time with Adam Gardens (Logan Marshall-Green) as they plan her garden, torn down to deter a rodent infestation in “The Rat Race.” The architect is a native New Yorker, born and raised in Greenwich Village, which vibes a bit better with Bradshaw’s current situation than her out-of-town boyfriend, who has a home and family in Virginia.Sex and the Cityseason 6established that Carrie can’t leave New York for love with her Alexander Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov) storyline, so moving to Virginia is out of the question.
