There’s hope for a Vanquish 2, too
Six years after its console release,Vanquish‘s legacy might not be completely set in stone. There’s a chance that the Platinum-developed cult classic is getting a swan song, and it’s through a more substantial route than the likes of Xbox’s backward compatibility program.
In an interview withKotaku, PlatinumGames’ co-founder Atsushi Inaba coyly teased that a PC port ofVanquishmight be on the studio’s mind. When Kotaku asked about the possibility of the third-person shooter coming to PC, Inaba said “Hrm. I wonder… If you stop recording, I can talk about that. (laughs)”

That’s not the only timeVanquishcame up. Inaba also commented that the studio would like to make a sequel, but he said it in an open-ended way regarding all of the developer’s properties. “For any time, if we have the chance to make a sequel, we want to do it. There is no title we don’t want to make a sequel for. So, of course, we want to makeBayonetta 3andVanquish 2. So, yes, we want to make sequels,” Inaba said.
It’s not much in the way of confirmation of anything, but it’s a glimmer of hope. It’s at least a sign that Platinum has had some sort of recent discussion aboutVanquish. But, to get either of them done will probably require a publisher to bankroll.
