What are your chances of getting a shiny Pokémon during the Catch Mastery event?
Sunday, March 16 sees the return of a Catch Mastery event to Pokémon GO. The Archen Catch Mastery event will bring several bonuses to Pokémon GO, including boosted shiny odds.
However, like every event, Pokémon GO never reveal what the boosted shiny odds are. Different events that all say they have “increased chances to encounter shiny Pokémon” all differ from eachother.
We haven’t seen a Catch Mastery event since December 2023 either, so you might not even have experienced one before. So, we’ve gathered what we know about this Archen Catch Mastery event and the shiny odds so you know what to expect from the event.

What shiny odds does the Archen Catch Mastery event have?
A Catch Mastery event in Pokémon GO is an all day affair. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. That in itself should tell you that the shiny odds won’t be as generous as events like Community Day, which have odds of about 1/25.
However, with the event running for a lot longer that does not mean you won’t find yourself with a good chance of grabbing some shiny Pokémon.
The Pokémon GO Archen Catch Mastery shiny odds will be about 1/64.These boosted odds will apply to the three Pokémon advertised to have increased chances. These Pokémon are:
Omanyte and Kabuto will be spawning in the wild during the event. Then, Archen will be avaliable from Field Research tasks, as well as through a Free Timed Research awarded to all players. There is also the option of an additional Paid Timed Research.
These grant 40 encounters, so both tickets guarantee you at least 80. With the 1/64 odds avaliable that means (with some luck!) you should be able to at least get a Shiny Archen from this event.
